HOUSING INNOVATION COMPETITION
The Boston Society of Architects/AIA (BSA), in partnership with 3 Boston organizations, will be soliciting proposals for a City of Boston pilot initiative on five City-owned vacant land parcels in the Garrison Trotter neighborhood. The proposals will be solicited through a competitive, transparent Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The full RFP and more information are available here.
AIA NATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS

2016 AIA NE DESIGN AWARDS
CONGRATULATIONS to WMAIA member architects Kuhn Riddle Associates, who won the "People's Choice" Award for their MultiFamily Residential project, "Olympia Oaks Housing," at the AIANE 2016 Conference / Awards Program. See their project, and all of the award-winning projects, here.

The exhibit and awards program were both grand successes, and contributed to public / architect interaction and education about design.

2014 WMAIA / BSLA ANNUAL DESIGN AWARDS
The Design Awards Program, last held by the WMAIA in 2012, was co-hosted this year by the WMAIA and the Boston Society of Landscape Architects – Western Massachusetts Section. The competition was open to any building type or landscape anywhere in the world completed at any time in the last ten years, by any architect or landscape architect whose principal office is currently located in Western Massachusetts (Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties), or who is a member of WMAIA. The sole criterion of the program is design excellence.
The jury was comprised of four architectural professionals from New England: Ward D'Elia AIA, Samyn-D'Elia Architects, Ashland NH; Katie Cassidy Sutherland AIA, Scully Architects, Keene NH; Terrence Parker ASLA, Terra Firma Landscape Architecture, Portsmouth, NH; and Sheldon Pennoyer AIA, Sheldon Pennoyer Architects, Concord, NH.
The WMAIA received eighteen submissions.
Two Citation Awards and four Honor Awards were presented. See photos of all submitted and winning projects here.
2014 WMAIA HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
The WMAIA was pleased to award two honorary memberships for 2014: one to John Olver, former U.S. Representative for MA’s 1st congressional district 1991 – 2013, and the second to Max Page, Professor of Architecture and History at UMass Amherst. Read more here.
