The built environment has great potential for bettering the quaility of our everyday lives, including the way we work, learn and enjoy life. Undergirding all of the work that Miller Pollin produces is the notion that interpretive, contemporary design should be democratic; it should belong to all people who experience the built environment in all its forms, from housing to educational, public and institutional facilities.
The studio’s principal is Sigrid Miller Pollin, FAIA, Professor of Architecture and Design at the University of Massaschusetts, Amherst. She believes that effective design at any scale, from spoons to skyscrapers evolves from a creative synthesis of information and inclusive behavior toward everyone involved in the design and production process — clients, contractors, engineers, planners and landscape architects. Needless to say budget reality is also always a key part of this synthesis.
