Whately Town Hall served as the Town of Whately’s town hall for over 170 years and was in desperate need of a full renovation. The building was inaccessible, un-insulated in many areas, had leaky windows, finishes were dated and threadbare, bat droppings covered the attic, and floors at both levels had significant structural issues. Nevertheless, the building is in an incredibly prominent location with beautiful views of the Pioneer Valley, and had served the town well.
To accommodate the new use as a community center and historical society museum, a full renovation and small addition included:
- A new three-stop lift
- Accessible bathrooms within the existing footprint
- New insulation and fully restored windows
- New structural modifications
- New efficient lighting, heating, and cooling systems
